David Luxton
Vice President of Construction and Facilities

David Luxton is the Vice President of Construction and Facilities at Carl’s Jr restaurants based in Anaheim California. CKE Inc. is the parent company of Carl’s Jr and Hardees restaurants operating over 3133 restaurants domestically and internationally. David started with Carl’s in 2007 and led the introduction of the USGN web based project management tool which is now used for project feasibility, plan repository, bidding, contracting and construction accounting. Currently he is investigating the use of this system for an integrated facilities management process. Carl’s has just completed its first energy efficient restaurant and David has initiated the first LEED certified project, which will be a prototype for multiple LEED conversions to follow. Prior to the economic downturn David had been positioning Carl’s for rapid company and franchise expansion in the Texas and Northwest markets; this will still occur but at a slower pace.

Prior to joining Carl’s David spent 23 years at Yum Brands in various construction and facility roles. At Pizza Hut he led the delivery expansion in the western US and worked to assimilate several competitor acquisitions into the system. At Taco Bell he worked in the dual branding group testing new dual brands for potential and adding proven brands to existing restaurants. He developed an exterior re-image program at Kentucky Fried Chicken that reduced costs by over one hundred thousand dollars per store and that is still used by KFC as well as having been adopted by a number of other brands; Carls Jr has just completed their first several of these enhancements with great sales results in the down economy.

When Mr Luxton first worked in the US it was for Fotomat Corporation, a photo developing company, building camera stores and processing labs in the northeastern US. After the demise of Fotomat he worked for Command Performance hair cutters building beauty salons in malls and shopping centers throughout the US.

David was educated in Canada with a major in architecture and electrical. After school he worked in the wholesale lumber industry and then as a contractor building custom homes. While working in the US he met his wife, Penney, and has resided here with their two children since.
