Bill joined Flowers in 1991 when the company acquired Pies, Inc., his family’s Minneapolis-based pie business. At Pies, Inc., he orchestrated the conversion from fresh to frozen pies, expanding that company’s sales base from local to national markets through foodservice distributors. Since joining Flowers, Bill has held a variety of executive positions with emphasis on foodservice sales, marketing and logistics. Bill served Mrs. Smith’s Bakeries as executive vice president from 1999 to 2001, when he was named president and chief operating officer. After a successful turnaround of the Mrs. Smiths Bakeries Operating Division, then Flowers Foods, sold the dessert segment of the Mrs. Smiths Bakeries Operating Division in March of 2003. Strenglis remained with Flowers Foods transition team through December 2003 when he retired from Flowers.

After one year of semiretirement and a consulting assignment for a nutrition company, Strenglis was named President of DI Foodservice in January 2005. DI Foodservice name was changed to Unified Brands Inc in January of 2006.

He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science Business Administration degree.
